Kendra Alexander selected for KMEA 12A Honor Band

Sophomore Kendra Alexander was selected to represent Logan High School in the KMEA 12A Honor Band.  She was selected out of numerous nominations and was selected to the 7th chair flute section.  She arrived at Wichita on Thursday, February 23rd to an afternoon of rehearsal over the 7 songs that she prepared ahead of time.  Her conductor, Michael Sweeney, was stuck in Wisconsin due to weather so Dr. Frank Perez from Baker filled in on Thursday to lead rehearsal.  Thursday evening consisted of a President's Concert by Damn Tall Buildings.

On Thursday evening, Michael Sweeney made it safely to Wichita so he conducted the rehearsal on Friday and Saturday.  Saturday, February 25th at 1:00 PM, they concluded the weekend with a concert in Concert Hall that included many songs that Sweeney had either written or arranged which was a neat experience for Kendra.

Hopefully Kendra can experience this for 2 more years as this is only the second year of this honor band thanks to Mrs. Vesta Jo Still of Phillipsburg getting this band going last year.
