Students participate in Logan Spelling Bee

The Logan School Spelling Bee was held on January 24 with 35 spellers participating.  After Round 5, 11 spellers remained.  They were Henry States, Clay Grammon, Taden Gottschalk, Emma Traxler, Kinley VanDerVeen, Helen Prewo, Hunter Vahling, Gunnar Ashmore, Hannah Brumbaugh, Jayla Traxler, and Cora Ashmore.  Helen, Gunnar, Jayla, and Cora were eliminated in Round 7 so they finished tied for 8th place.  Henry, Clay, and Hannah were eliminated in Round 8 so they all tied for 5th place.  Hunter was eliminated in the 9th Round so he finished in 4th place.  Taden went out in the 10th Round finishing in 3rd place.  Emma and Kinley then battled until the 15th Round successfully spelling words such as reenactment, exhilaration, pioneered, configuration, dissolute, and batten.  After the 15th Round, Kinley spelled counterfeit to win the Bee, with Emma finishing as the runner-up. 

 

Spellers participating in the Spelling Bee were 4th graders Harper Delimont, Bryson Bolt, Jensen Hogan, Miles Archer, Daniel Galaviz, Zophina Benton, Kylah Brumbaugh, Cullen Ware, Harper Vahling, and Logan Trochez; 5th graders Anslee Traxler, Tobin Kats, Tucker Ellenberger, Henry States, Kinley VanDerVeen, Graysen Becker, Helen Prewo, and Gunnar Ashmore; 6th graders Jeffery Bliss, John Sparks, Clay Grammon, Keegan Breese, Wyatt Green, Hunter Vahling, Jayce Wiltfong, Kadee Bolt, Weston Ruff, Brecken Shellito, and Addisyn Ellenberger; 7th graders Hannah Brumbaugh and Jayla Traxler; 8th graders Cora Ashmore, Taden Gottschalk, Buster States, and Emma Traxler.  The County Spelling Bee will be held on February 1 at the Huck Boyd Center in Phillipsburg.  Congratulations to Kinley and Emma!
