Logan vs Tescott 2-24-23

Following a new format for the Class 1A Division II Sub-State basketball tournament, the first round of games were played on Thursday and Friday.  The #5 seeded Lady Trojans traveled to Tescott to play on Thursday, Feb. 23.  Tescott earned the 3-point lead at the end of the first quarter, and by halftime they were up 28-13.  The Logan Lady Trojans were not ready to finish their season though and came back to life in the third quarter outscoring Tescott 14-4 with junior Ansley Delimont leading the charge.  With 7 minutes left in the game, the teams were tied at 32.  Tescott kept scoring with Logan answering, and the score was tied again with 3 min left in the game.  Tescott scored 4 points, but junior Mara Kats added her own two and the score was 42-44 with 1:20 left on the clock.  Logan stole the ball, but couldn't convert on their layup giving Tescott the ball, who scored again.  Junior Kenzie Wells added a bucket with 7 seconds left on the clock, but it wasn't enough, and Logan suffered the season-ending loss 44-48.  Junior Ansley Delimont scored 22 points for the third time this season with Cydnee Rider adding 8 and Mara Kats 6.  Senior Madi Brackney pulled down 7 rebounds.  

 

It was the boys' turn on Friday, Feb. 24 as they, too, played Tescott, but hosted the game at Palco.  Logan scored on the first possession of the game and charged forward, easily rolling over their opponents 50-17.  Ethan Gashler earned 8 points and 9 rebounds while Ryan Prewo scored 9 points and 6 boards, and Rhett Kats scored 18 with 11 boards.  The win advances the Trojans to the quarterfinals which will be played at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 3 in Tescott as they take on the Northern Valley Huskies for the third time this season.
