Spelling Bee Winners

The Logan school spelling bee was held on January 12 in the auditorium.  Thirty-one spellers took part in the bee.  Mr. Kirkendall was the pronouncer, Mr. Gower and Mrs. Jansonius were the judges, and Mrs. Brown was the protest judge.  After 7 rounds there were two spellers left, Kaitlyn Alexander and Sam Pinkerton.  The bee went just one more round before a winner was declared.  Sam was the champion, with Kaitlyn taking 2nd place.  The winning word was “moisture”.  Some other words spelled correctly by the spellers were invisible, digestive, and marooned.  Other 4th-8th grade students who participated were Kendra Alexander, Kaden Graham, Rhett Kats, Hailey McClurg, Ryan Prewo, Caleb Sparks, Mayson Vahling, Tye West, Mara Kats, Cydnee Rider, Hayden Gottstine, Brooke Wiltfong, Cameron Morgan, Kylee Uhland, Madison Brackney, Katie Kendall, Jersey Voss, Chelsi Brown, Levi Rust, Jesse McClurg, Logan White, Sam Pinkerton, Dylan Van Laeys, AJ Grammon, Ty Kats, Ian Sparks, Jessie Jackson, Colton Whitney, and Colton Ashmore.   The Phillips County Bee will be held at the Huck Boyd Center in Phillipsburg on January 25.
