Class of 2021 celebrates graduation

The graduation for the Class of 2021 was held on Sunday May 9, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. in the Logan School Auditorium. The graduating Class of 2021 consisted of: Colton Ashmore, Khloee Braun, Dylan DeWitt, Aaron McClurg, Kaden Shellito, Haylee Tien, and Colton Whitney.   The invocation was given by Kaden Shellito, while Colton Whitney welcomed everyone to the ceremony.  Khloee Braun introduced their speaker, Mr. Lonnie Jansonius.  He taught his government students a final lesson about five major turning points in history and related those to the turning points in their lives.  The Senior Class cheered as Mr. Lonnie Jansonius entertained them for the last time with his best Bill Clinton impersonation to end his commencement address.   Superintendent Michael Gower presented the class while Board of Education member Shane DeBoer presented students with their diplomas. Robin Van Laeys presented the Citizenship Awards to Khloee Braun and Haylee Tien.  She also presented the valedictorian award to Khloee Braun and Haylee Tien and the salutatorian award to Ian Sparks.

In his salutatorian address, Ian Sparks thanked many people in the crowd for everything they had done for him personally and for his classmates.   In her valedictorian speech, Haylee Tien encouraged her classmates to embrace the changes in their lives.  She noted that while change is often difficult, some of the most unexpected changes bring the greatest blessings.  Valedictorian Khloee Braun explained that while procrastination added stress to her life in getting her school work done, it also gave her the enjoyment of participating in many school activities.

During the song "Home," the seniors presented their parents with flowers and then watched their class video.  Colton Ashmore gave the benediction, and the seniors walked out to the song "The Show Goes On" recorded by Lupe Fiasco.

Congratulations to the Class of 2021!
