Logan hosts JH/HS track meets

Logan schools hosted the annual junior high track meet on Tuesday, May 4 at the Logan field beginning at 10 a.m.  Other schools participating included Brewster, Cheylin, Golden Plains, Northern Valley and Palco.  Highlights included Graci Bliss winning 3 golds in the 6th grade division in the 200 m dash, 100 m hurdles and long jump.  Breyer Delimont, Cora Ashmore and Emma Traxler took 1, 2, and 3 in the shot put, and Breyer won the discus.

In the 7th/8th grade division, Hailey McClurg placed first in the 100 m hurdles and long jump with Mollie Griffin winning the prize in the triple jump.  Kaitlyn Alexander and Kendra Alexander joined Hailey and Mollie in the 4x100 relay to win that event as well.

In the 6th grade boys, TyRay Snyder won the 200 m and Taden Gottschalk won both the 800 m run and high jump.  These two boys along with Brayton Woods and Buster States placed first in the 4x100 relay.  Collin Sparks cleaned house in the throwing department winning the shot, discus and softball throw.

Caleb Sparks brought home two golds for the 7th/8th graders by winning the shot put and discus.  Kaden Graham earned 4 sliver medals by placing in the long jump and triple jump as well as the 4x100 and medley relays with teammates Ryan Prewo, Robert Dailey and Rhett Kats.  Robert also earned 2nd place in the 400 m.

Following the junior high meet, the high school tracksters moved in and hosted Stockton, Wheatland, Brewster, Lakeside, Golden Plains, Palco, Northern Valley, Thunder Ridge, Osborne, Western Plains and Heartland Christian.

On the girls side, Logan placed 1, 3, and 5 in the shot put with Rylee Delimont leading the way and Mara Kats and Camille Gottschalk following.  Abigail Graham brought in a 4th place finish in the triple jump.

Kylor Hogan placed 1st in boys high jump and 2nd in triple jump.  He was joined by Josh Uhland, Dylan Van Laeys and Cameron Morgan in the 4x100 to take home the gold as well.  Dylan also won 3rd in the triple jump and 4th in the javelin.  Senior Ian Sparks won the silver in the shot put and a bronze in the discus.

Congratulations to the Logan athletes and a HUGE thank you to all students, staff and area volunteers who helped to put on these two track meets.  It definitely takes a village to put on this big day, and it couldn't be done without each one of you!
