Congratulations to local spelling bee winners

The Logan School Spelling Bee was held on January 22 in the auditorium.  Twenty-nine spellers took part in the competition. Mrs. Jansonius welcomed everyone to the spelling bee and went over the rules.  Mr. Kirkendall was the pronouncer, Mr. Gower and Mrs. Kibbee were the judges, Mrs. Brown was the protest judge, and Mr. Jansonius was the videographer.

After the second round, twelve spellers remained.  They were 4th grader Scarlet Tien, 6th graders Aleeah Tien, Conner Gottschalk, Lakin Dougherty, Clayton Becker, Mia Joyce, Raelynn Duncan, and Treyson Brackney, 7th grader Zoe Tien, and 8th graders Tobin Kats, Henry States, and Kinley VanDerVeen.  Tying for 9th place, Raelynn, Tobin, Scarlet, and Mia were eliminated in round three.  Aleeah, Conner, and Zoe all tied for 6th place going out in round 5.  Tying for 3rd place were Lakin, Clayton, and Henry who all went out in round 6.  Treyson and Kinley just went one more round as Kinley correctly spelled “sequins” and “fabulous” to become the champion.

Congratulations to all of the spellers on a terrific competition! Other students participating in the bee were 4th graders Jolee Leggett, Macy Parks, Harlie Sammons, and Nevaeh Stamm; 5th graders Samuel Desair, Haley Ellenberger, Sophia Joyce, Keira Kallenberger, LJ Kibbee, Maddox Vahling, and Johnathan Voss; 6th grader Rydge Wyatt ; 7th graders Bryson Bolt, Kylah Brumbaugh, and Cullen Ware; and 8th graders Gunnar Ashmore and Tucker Ellenberger.

The County Spelling Bee will be held at the Huck Boyd Center in Phillipsburg on February 4th at 9:00. Congratulations to Champion Kinley VanDerVeen and Runner-up Treyson Brackney!
