Logan music students attend events

Logan freshman Kendra Alexander (flutist) earned a place in the first ever 1A-2A All-State Honor Band.  Previously, the Honor Band included students in 1A-4A, but this year was split into two classifications.  Kendra and the All-State Bands performed at the Kansas Music Educators Association (KMEA) annual in-service in Wichita on Feb. 26.  Students were selected through an audition process at the district and state levels.

On Tuesday, Mar 8, the Logan High School Band and Choir students traveled to Colby for the WKLL League Music Contest.

Senior Sam Pinkerton earned a I-rating with his trumpet, and junior Kylee Uhland received a I- on her vocal solo.  The flute trio including Kylee Uhland, Kendra Alexander and Hailey McClurg earned a I-rating as did the mixed ensemble including Kylee Uhland, Sam Pinkerton, Hailey McClurg, Kaitlyn Alexander and Ryan Prewo.

The percussion Quintet of Kaden Graham, Rhett Kats, Ryan Prewo, Caleb Sparks and Mayson Vahling earned a II-rating as did Kendra Alexander on her flute solo.

The band was under the direction of Mr. Payson Maydew, and Mr. Paul Prewo directed the choir.
