On Thursday, November 10, Fort Hays State University held their 38th Annual FHSU Math Relays. There were 681 students from 53 different 1A-6A schools competing against each other. Among this highly competitive group were 8 students from Logan High School. They were as follows: Seniors: Faith Hofaker, Kayla Hofaker and Marie Ko; Juniors: Tiffany Horn, Ryann Kats, Shaydin Speth and Lane Stapleton; Sophomore: Matthew Kirkendall There are 6 events during the morning testing period. They are “Using Number Sense”, “Trigonometry”, “Algebraic Manipulations”, “Geometry”, “Applications of Algebra”, and “Calculations with Calculators”. The students from Logan competed very well, usually scoring in the top 25-30 percent of all students testing. Here are some of the highlights:

10th of 24 teams—Tiffany Horn, Shaydin Speth, Lane Stapleton

8th of 81 individuals—Tiffany Horn
7th of 24 teams—Faith Hofaker, Kayla Hofaker, Marie Ko
Among the 22 1A schools that competed at the relays, St. John Catholic took 1st place, Rock Hills took 2nd, and Tipton Catholic took 3rd place. There was a very tight competition for 9thplace(6 way tie!), in which Logan and Thunder Ridge ranked.
