4th Graders Receive High-Powered Microscopes

The 4th graders were surprised by Mr. Kirkendall. There were six high-powered microscopes waiting for them in their classroom when they returned from a trip downtown. Right away the 4th graders started looking through the microscopes. They looked at onion cells, hair, shrimp, and frog water. After seeing the moving organisms in the frog water, 4th grader Lylah Voss said, “That was astonishing!” The new microscopes are better than their old ones because they don’t have to adjust a mirror for light. The 4th graders plan to look at many more things including their cheek cells and a piece of snake skin. The microscopes make them feel like real scientists. When asked about the microscopes, 4th grader Case Ashmore said, “They are the best thing that we’ve done all year!”
